More and more, auto racing is becoming family-oriented.  Family ties always have been a big part of racing among the competitors.  And now it seems that racing has become a huge source of entertainment for entire families--men, women, and even children.  Therefore, one of the most exciting and successful ministries that can be conducted at speedways and raceways is ministry to the children and their family members.  Below are some resources that might help you with ministry at your speedway.

Timothy Cup Racing is a ministry of Dwight Sisk of Hazel Green, Alabama.  Dwight has traveled all over the state of Alabama and to raceways and speedways in other states, as well, training, leading, guiding and conducting pinewood derby races for children of race fans and for children at churches.  In addition, Dwight is putting together "Hot Wheels" racing for children's ministry at the speedways.  Give Dwight a call or email him and schedule him to come to your speedway for a pinewood derby or "Hot Wheels" Timothy Cup event!  Phone 256.828.7479 or email dwight.sisk@us.army.mil.

Race Car Coloring Pictures are a great way to keep kids occupied at the speedway, and these coloring pictures even can provide conversation starters that could lead to opportunities to share the Lord.  A child may, for example, choose to color his or her picture like the car or truck of a Christian driver or team owner, providing an opportunity to share a word of testimony about that person.  And, each vehicle pictured has the "ichthus" fish on it somewhere, which also could prompt a child to inquire about its meaning.  Pictures are on letter size paper, are photocopy ready, and are available as follows: Stock Cars or Trucks in Chevy, Dodge, Ford, Pontiac; IRL Cars; World of Outlaw Sprint Cars; NCRA Late Models; Dirt Track Street Stock.  Coloring pictures are similar to the ones shown below, and are available through Raceway Ministry Resources.  Call Roger Marsh at 940.686.5449 or email roger@rmresources.org

The Orly Mann Racing Series is a series of paperback books, written by former racer and pastor Ken Stuckey of California.  The books feature fictional NASCAR Nextel Cup driver Orly Mann and his racing team, with stories about their adventures on and off the track, encountering the challenges and celebrating the victories with Biblical, Christian principles.  Youth ages 9 - adult will love these books.  Currently, three titles are available--Bristol, Conflict in California, Doubt at Daytona, and Slowdown at Sears Point.  The next book in the series will feature Orly Mann and the team at Texas.  For more information about the books, including prices and shipping information, visit www.orlymann.com.
